Real Colorado Destination Wedding: Alyssa and Aaron
I received a phone call from Alyssa last October and we hit it off immediately. I could tell she was decisive and knew what she wanted. She and Aaron wanted a destination wedding but nothing extravagant. Small and intimate, beautiful and sophisticated. But since she lived in Houston, she wanted to hire a local wedding planner who knew the Denver vendors.
The wedding was held at Garden of the Gods Resort (GoG) in February and Mother Nature was kind. The day was crisp and clear with amazing views of the Garden of the Gods Park.
Alyssa also wanted help with décor and design. This was the fun part, styling an elegant wedding for 30 guests, keeping it organic and understated.
I suggested setting the tables in an X formation, allowing all the guests the ability to see each other and feel involved in the conversation. We also added draping, twinkle lights, and hanging orbs with LED candles to soften the room and give it a more romantic feel. Another fun touch I suggested was to add a champagne wall that served both as a décor element as well as a functional one.
The flowers by Fairytale Florals were stunning, with a gorgeous palette of berry tones in blush, burgundy, plum and magenta. The bouquet included dahlias, ranunculus, roses, peony and more. Wow!
A string trio playing during the ceremony was perfectly suited for such a beautiful backdrop. There was not a traditional bridal party, only the flower girl who was Alyssa’s niece. She looked amazing and was so happy to be included.
The reception was a quiet gathering of Alyssa and Aaron’s family and closest friends and was very sweet and personal.
The guest “book” was two bottles of wine with a surprise presented by Aaron’s mother. She had purchased a bottle of Spumante on the day Aaron was born and saved it for the day he wed. They uncorked it and sipped it for the first toast. Admittedly it was not very good (quite bad in fact) but it’s the thought that counts.
The night wouldn’t be complete without cake! Alyssa and Aaron kept it sweet and fed each other a bite of delicious cake, no smashing here.
As the guests said their goodbyes, they were offered a “thank you for coming” gift made by the pastry chef at GoG. It was truly a beautiful wedding with personal details throughout that made the entire event lovely and warm.
