Chrystal & Thiago
A Wedding Planner Under Pressure - A Real Life Story
Their Story: Was it love at first sight? Not for both. The groom, a professional body builder and model, was organizing a photo shoot and told his photographer he wanted a blonde with a big derriere. So during the shoot in walks Crystal, a beautiful blonde with an amazing figure. Although Thiago is around gorgeous women all the time there was something different about her. She radiated genuineness, a sweet kindness and warmth. He was smitten and tongue-tied. She on the other hand was not impressed with him. She thought he was attractive but arrogant because he didn’t talk to her. Little did she know why. It took multiple text messages and some Portuguese sweet talk but eventually Crystal said yes to a first date and it was soon thereafter that they BOTH realized they were soul mates.
My Story (the wedding coordinator): I received a phone call from a couple that was looking for a little help planning their rehearsal dinner. The call started out like any other call until I realized that their wedding was just five weeks away and there were still many things undecided. They still needed a caterer, alcohol selections, centerpieces, guest book ideas, transportation, and the list goes on. They hired me on the spot and I got to work immediately.
Nearly 500 people were invited from near and far. Invitations went out all over the U.S, including Hawaii, and internationally from Canada to Brazil to Qatar. The bridal party consisted of 34 attendants, two flower girls and one ring bearer. It was huge! The bride handmade every bouquet and boutonniere with bright summer colors of orange, pinks, lavender and mint green. We quickly knocked out decision after decision and were ready to go the week before the wedding with all details perfected.
Just two hours before the ceremony my staff and I got underway setting up the centerpieces of large vases filled with LED pussy willow branches and orange gladiolas surrounded by gold and bronze lanterns and candles. When it all came together the room was beautiful. We created hand written signs for the guest book area, gift table and a welcome sign all to reflect the easygoing personality of the couple.
The wedding was held at the Highlands Ranch Mansion in October and it was a picture perfect day … literally. The ceremony was outside complete with blooming flowers, a light breeze and not a cloud in sight.
The reception was indoors with two open bars and three food stations, catered by Gourmet Fine Catering. Each station had a different theme was both beautiful and delicious. Thiago and Crystal kicked off the reception with a choreographed dance to very upbeat Latin music and the evening was loads of fun. The dance floor was packed with both young and old throughout the night and the day was everything Crystal and Thiago hoped for.
Tip for the day: Don’t wait until 5 weeks before your wedding to ask for help! It can be done but do yourself a favor and avoid that kind of stress.
