Real Weddings: Mary & Nick's Fall Wedding @ Blackstone Rivers Ranch
From the first time I met Mary and Nick, I knew we would be a good fit. Mary was very organized and showed up with a whole list of questions. Nick was not the “typical” groom either. He was very involved in our meeting, had his own questions and definitely added input throughout the planning process. They had done their research, looking at many planners and we quickly discovered we were like-minded. So we dove right in!
A Rustically Fun Colorado Wedding!
Mary and Nick wanted the wedding to have a very Colorado feel, rustic yet contemporary, fun and unexpected. Blackstone Rivers Ranch was the perfect location for the festivities!
Wedding Ceremony Decor
In keeping with the natural feel, Mary and Nick chose to accent the aisle with tree stumps and vases with beautiful white flowers and greenery. The altar was adorned with glass orbs filled with greenery and white flowers which gave a truly romantic feel without distracting from the natural beauty of the aspens, evergreen trees, and stream that runs along the property.
The bridesmaids’ dresses were a floral print with the groomsmen ties matching. It was all so pretty!
An Unexpected Reception
They knew from the beginning that they didn’t want dinner to feel like a hotel banquet or serve typical wedding food so they opted to serve brunch for dinner with a fun omelet station to complete the casual vibe. The food was delicious and people raved about how excited they were with the “out of the box” menu.
Mary added a touch of boho by including a mismatched collection of silver and gold, iridescent and copper votives as part of the centerpieces for a whimsical touch.
Nick and Mary have two fur babies that they love very much and as a wedding gift, Nick’s brother made a bride and groom “portrait” using their cats as the inspiration. It was such a unique and thoughtful gift that everyone got a kick out of. I mean … they really love their cats!
My favorite part of the evening was when Mary surprised Nick by singing, “Teenage Dream” by Katie Perry for him after they cut the cake. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.
The fun continued throughout the night with bitty bundts, a Congo line and lots of dancing.
