Hair Inspiration for Beach Weddings
Beach weddings are known for being relaxed, romantic, and sunny.
The beach also brings heat, humidity, and the island breeze. The environment creates some special considerations for your wedding day hair, so today I’m sharing some tips and inspiration to get you started.
Straight & Soft
If your hair does not like holding a curl, it will definitely not hold it during a beach wedding (no matter how much product you use).
Embrace your straight hair! A smoothing product to keep the frizz away and a beautiful head piece work to create the perfect look for the bride who wishes to keep her hair down.
Embrace the waves
If your hair tends to curl itself, a beach wedding is one place where you can absolutely get by with sun-kissed, salt-soaked beach waves in your hair.
Ask your stylist about using a sea salt spray to add texture to a few natural waves, and let your hair truly enjoy the island breeze.
Don’t skip the veil!
A lot of brides who may otherwise love to have a romantic cathedral veil tend to leave them home for their destination beach wedding.
I say bring them! They are absolutely stunning against the beautiful island landscape, and the breeze picking it up can make for some epic images.
Put it up
Many island brides choose updo’s for the beach. A well-sculpted up-do can be easy to wear on the wedding day, and your stylist will be able to choose the right products to make sure no hair will be out of place despite the sun, heat, and humidity.

Down-then-up
If you want to have romantic waves for the ceremony, and then still have a nice polished look into the reception, consider a down-then-up look. Your stylist can create a romantic pile of curls to wear down in a half-ponytail, and then teach you how to quickly pin the rest of your hair up after the ceremony.
She may even be able to stick around and help you put your hair up for you. This look is very loose and romantic, and perfect for the beach.
Beach Hair Tips
Chat with your stylist at home about preparing for the humidity. While you may have professional help on your wedding day, your stylist at home can help you prepare your hair leading up to your travels to Mexico.
Be ok with ‘anything goes’. The island breeze and humidity can cause havoc on even the most professionally done bridal hair do. Avoid fussing with it too much.
Let your hair do what it will, and just enjoy your day!
You will look beautiful because you already are.
