With such a busy season ahead, we’ve gathered a few of our favorite tips to consider for summer wedding event attire — whether you’re celebrating as a guest, wedding party member, or the bride.

Keep the Weather in Mind

While summer wedding events offer the beauty of one of the best seasons of the year, they also come with warmer weather and brighter sunshine. Consider the likely temperature and setting of the event when picking a dress. Sleeveless dresses are a great choice to keep you cool and comfortable throughout your ceremony and on the dancefloor. Short mid- or knee-length dresses are another warm-weather staple for wedding events — either as the bride, bridesmaid, or guest! Fabric types can make a big difference in breathability, too. Save your heavier, richer fabrics for a winter wedding.

Wedding Party Dresses

There are two words you should keep in mind while searching for summer wedding party dresses: communicate & comfort. Talk with your bridesmaids about dress and attire options early on and throughout your buying process to make sure everyone is on the same page. A summer wedding is a great time to show off some leg, but every wedding party member might not be comfortable in a dress showing so much skin.

On the topic of comfort, consider your fabric choice carefully to find light-weight, flattering dress options that your wedding party will feel comfortable wearing while standing at the front of the church, eating your delish catered dinner, and while dancing along to high-school throwbacks.

When finding the perfect dresses for your wedding party, don’t forget your younger members! Flowergirls, ring bearers, and any other young wedding party inclusions will also need to look their best for your big day. For kiddos, look for dresses and attire that keep to the dress code of your wedding without looking too fancy. While kids in tuxes and long dresses are almost unbearably adorable, the same elegant looks that fit your bridesmaids may look too grown-up on your younger wedding participants.
