Army Navy Country Club Wedding - Matt & Donnie

All of the weddings that I plan are amazing in their own way, but once in a while I get to plan a wedding that is extra special.

Matt & Donnie as a couple are not only so much fun, but they are SO very much in love.

Their classy military wedding at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA. was full of great two-grooms details, not to mention a tuxedo cake, views of the Washington Monument, and a traditional saber arch welcoming Matt to the Army as the new spouse of a decorated officer.

I should also mention that their perfect wedding day was featured in the book ‘Love is Love’, an ideas and inspiration book for LGBTQ weddings!

This is such an honor not only for me as their wedding planner, but for them as a celebration of their beautiful relationship and this day they shared with friends and family.

Army Navy Country Club Wedding - Matt & Donnie

The Army Navy Country Club is an incredible venue…while I normally plan weddings in Colorado, I love when I’m invited to travel to venues in other States.

I especially love when those venues do not disappoint! There is truly something magical about being surrounded by so much elegance and history, not to mention the incredibly lush manicured landscapes and perfect late spring weather.

These custom U.S. Flag flasks were perfect details for this military wedding, honoring Donnie’s service and celebrating the Country that said YES to their marriage.

I loved their matching grooms wedding rings.

They helped each other get dressed in preparation for the ceremony, which is something not many couples can say that they have done! Donnie wore his formal attire while Matt wore a custom suit.

Their ceremony overlooked the Washington Monument. Subtle green and white floral design by Stem and Thistle were perfect against the bright and clean details of the ceremony space.

Moscow Mules are always a hit if you are looking for unique ideas for your wedding cocktail hour. The copper mugs are a fantastic detail that adds a little color and sophistication to the event.

Providing guests with sunglasses and flip-flops are a great way to make sure they have a fantastic time.

We chose crisp white linens and navy blue, which fit beautifully against the historic, welcoming, and somewhat formal feel of the ballroom. The chandeliers, fireplace, and chiavari chairs made the space elegant and upscale.

Floating floral vases and navy votives brought this look together, without blowing the budget on massive floral arrangements.

This tuxedo wedding cake was fantastic! I love the attention to detail here, and it so perfectly fit into Donnie & Matt’s wedding.
